BRIJ KI HORI

The month of phagun comes in the month of Feburary . This is the Basant season when the winter season ends and summer seasons replaces it. The season at this time of the year is indeed very pleasant because it is neither too cold nor it is so warm . New leaves sprout from the trees and flowers bloom every where giving there intoxicating scent . The sakhi’s are singing joyfully ;
sakhi basant has come bringing joy everywhere.
The flowers are blooming and the birds are singing here and there .
The Yamuna is flowing , the boats are rowing.
The bumble bee is buzzing and the creepers are guzzing .
Pink, yellow, blue, lotuses are floating too.
The trees are gazing at their reflection.
They can see their complexion.
The birds are hopping and flying from one tree to another
and are enjoying the company of each other .
The champa, chameli, the kewara and so many other flowers
are sending their scented showers.
The gulab and juhi are dancing in glee ,
Is’nt it a beautiful sight to see!

BRIJ KI HORI
Pyare mati daro mope rang , nahin to de doon gi tumhe bhang .
Mere gile kye toone sabhi ang. kahe kare mohe tung . Na chalun gi kabhi tere sang . esse pakke rang dare tene mope, tujhe patta chalega jab main bhi daru tope
Hara peela lal gulabi,in sub me hai rang sharaabi
Hut jaa aa gai sakhion ki toli
Tujhe bhee yaad rahe gee yehe holi

Listen to the music of Hori
where all the sakhi’s are singing shaym’s glories
Their hands are full of gulal,
so that they can colour Lal
who is waiting for them at the mall,
Radhaji is hiding behind the trees of kadam,
the loud noise can be heard of the drums
Kanha’s eyes are looking everywhere
but he is not able to see Radha anywhere
Suddenly someone shouts hori hai, hori hai,
throwing a bucket full of black colour
Before he realized who it was ,
he was covered by all the gopis applying gulal on his face
And then it was his turn to colour Radha all over her cheeks
everyone was laughing to see such fun,
oh my watch out and run.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LATHMAR HOLI OF BARSANA

Shyam has come to Barsana to play hori,
how he has dressed himself is a story.
Wearing a crooked paag,
he has come to play phaag .
He is ready for the beating
and the gopi’s are ready for greeting
Every gopi is ready with a bamboo stick ,
dressed in fine lahnga’s in order to kick.
The gawalas of nand gaon are talking nonsense
and the gopi’s are here to put them in their senses
Now the game has begun
and the gopi’s are busy hitting everone.
The gawalas are shielding themselves with armours
The sticks of gopis hitting them is such a charmer
The gopi’s will stop only when they accept defeat
Isn’t it fun for one day the men folk should get a beat ?
Say we give up and touch your ears then you will have no fears,
Now wear the saree and choli bright, so that we can laugh at you with might.
Catch him, Catch him so that he doesn’t run away
Make sure he does not have his way,
Let him know how holi is played in the Barsana way
Where is your Baldao bhai, and where is your yashoda mai
Bring them all including your tai so that they also learn to play hori the Barsana way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Swami Haridasji's Keli Leela in Bhaav Smadhi 1-40 padaas

Nikunj is a place in Vrindavan which is surrounded by vrinda or tulsi shrubs. In these grooves of creepers the divine jori or couple loves to spend their pastime. This place exists in Nidhivan from where Shri Banke Bihari appeared by hearing the sangeet of Swami Shri Haridasji some 500 hundred years ago. Some of his leelas which Swami Shri Haridasji experienced in the nikunj in his Samadhi state are being explained below. All effort has been made to explain according to what he actually saw or experienced but incase something has been added by my own bhava, I ask forgiveness from Him. KELI LEELA 1. ‘Mai ri sahaj jori pragat bhai’ …… When Bihari ji appeared on Bihari Panchmi day in the month of December, there was a music recital where great classical singers had gathered to sing for Bihari ji. Swami Haridasji sang such enchanting padaas that Bihari ji was forced to make an appearance. Both Radha ji and Bihari ji appeared and were smiling at the devotees. At once Swami ji uttered ‘Mai (

Keshighat—The ghat where krishna had killed, the demon keshi who was sent by the king of Mathura kanms, the maternal uncle of krishna who eager to kill krishna. Sri cheer ghat--- This was the place where the gopi’s were bathing during the month of kartik to please katianidevi. While they were bathing, krishna stole their clothes. He wanted them to know that they should not bath naked in the river,as it is against the principles of our shastra’s. Sri bhramar ghat---On this ghat there are many branches of flowers due to which one finds a lot of bumble bees here and it is named bhramar ghat. Dhir sameer ghat--- Calm winds blow in this ghat.It seems the yamuna river wants to serve the divine couple, hence the wind blowing on this ghat is very soothing as well as full of lovely scent.Jaidev in his famous poetry geet govind has described this enchanting ghat where Radha Krishna have performed their kel pastimes.
